The quintessential link in our marriage is a weekly breakfast date. Each week we take a few hours to ourselves while our son is safely at home with a sitter. We walk the city, find new cozy eateries and chow down on good food and a seesaw of silly repartee.
We are mid-quest to conquer Chicago’s hasheries but this week we returned to a more upscale venue, Sixteen at Trump International Tower positioned perfectly at the Magnificent Mile, overlooking the River. This is a great spot in the summer because of its 16th floor balcony seating with picturesque views of Chicago’s skyline, mid morning winter however, is a reversed solemn muted scene suitable for relaxed post baby marital bliss.
Here are a few shots of our favorites.
Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice – Good.
Mimosas – I would have preferred more champagne to OJ but I will request that next time.
Irish Coffee – Excellent.
Cafe Lattee – Smooth and not sweet, although it is rather small.
Pain Au Chocolate – Well made puff croissant dough with a semi sweet chocolate stick, most likely from callebaut.
Apricot Danish – Excellent.
Croque Madame – The egg yolk was solid instead of runny but otherwise the bread and cheese were quite good.
Lobster Eggs Benedict on Texas Toast – The lobster was delicious and fresh, the egg was over poached with no runny yolk, the Hollandaise was delicious with a perfect amount of mild spiciness and the Texas toast is a genious idea.
